Bournemouth Pubs And Clubs

Bournemouth is one of the largest British coastal resort towns and the largest settlement in Dorset with a population of over 160,000 according to the 2001census. While the town has been dubbed “God’s waiting room”, this mantle is seemingly unfair with a large and ever increasing student and youth population; something that is evident in Bournemouth’s pubs and clubs as well as one of the most incredible retail and commercial venues anywhere in the country. The surrounding area includes Poole and Christchurch; the combination of the three making up the South East Dorset conurbation.

Shopping Centres

Bournemouth and its neighbouring towns have a combined population of nearly 400,000 and with many large retail stores and major shopping complexes, it is one of the most popular of all shopping destinations in the South of the England. One of the reasons for its popularity is that a lot of the town centre, which includes many Bournemouth bars, is pedestrianised making it easily accessible and pedestrian friendly. Victorian arcades combine with major modern complexes to offer a unique mix of boutiques with major shops like Marks & Spencers and Debenhams.

Bournemouth Pubs And Clubs

Most of Bournemouth’s nightlife is concentrated around the town centre with a great selection of pubs and clubs. More than 30 clubs include major venues like Yates’s, Walkabout, and even a Spearmint Rhino and as with many seaside resorts in Britain, the area enjoys a well established gay scene that comprises bars, clubs, restaurants, and even a Gay Pride Festival called Bourne Free.

Music And Entertainment

As well as local bands and entertainers appearing local pubs and clubs, The Bournemouth International Centre plays host to larger music and entertainment acts and has featured bands like Oasis, Girls Aloud, Jethro Tull, and a diverse mix of modern and contemporary music. The main hall, called Windsor Hall, has a capacity of 6.500 which means it is considered an arena so is often included as part of bands’ arena tours.

West Cliff

While most Bournemouth pubs and clubs do feature in the town centre, a number of other nightlife venues can also be found in the West Cliff region of the town. 1912, The Winchester, and the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) are all located in West Cliff making it an area that is well worth visiting if you’re looking for a lively night out in Bournemouth. Hotels and other accommodation can also be located within the West Cliff region if you don’t want to stay in the main town centre region.
