Chester

Chester Nightlife

Chester is most widely recognised for its city walls, Eastgate clock, and the rows that are essentially two rows of shops and houses. The unique architectural style is also immediately evident and Chester is home to some exclusive bars and other venues as well as a very good collection of pubs. While night clubs might be a little thin on the ground at the moment, a number of new clubs are set to open in the near future adding to what is already widely considered to be a great night out where you might even spot a celebrity or sports star during your night out.

Chester City Walls

Chester city walls are considered to be the most complete city walls anywhere in Britain with very few breaks around them. The walls have been in existence since the creation of the Deva Victrix fort which was built in 79 AD and the walls were built primarily as a means of defence. Now a Grade 1 listed building, Chester city walls are the most complete of all city walls in Great Britain and tourists can walk along many sections of the historic site.

Chester Rows

The rows are quite literally rows of buildings but are unique in that they are two storey buildings usually consisting of shops or houses. The lower floor of the rows are usually accessed by steps that lead down from road level to a vault like entrance while the first storey level is accessed via a walkway which generally overlooks the street. While some of the architectural style of Chester is medieval the majority of it, including the distinctive black and white buildings are Victorian in origin.

Chester Pubs And Clubs

Chester pubs and clubs are almost all situated within the confines of the city walls although some hotels and other accommodation may be located outside the main centre. Most Chester pubs and clubs are traditional in both their architecture and their style although some modern bars and a handful of nightclubs and other venues can also be found in Chester itself and the outlying regions. Chester pubs and clubs also offer food and different forms of entertainment.

Future Development Plans

More nightclubs and bars are planned for development in the near future. Completely new developments won’t feature in Chester centre but the urban region continues to develop outwards and new buildings can be found a short distance away from Chester itself. Some of the plans include the introduction of at least two new Chester nightclubs providing visitors and locals with even more nightlife entertainment.
