Hereford

Hereford Nightlife

Hereford is a relatively small city with a population of slightly more than 50,000 people  Among Hereford’s main exports are cider and beer although many agricultural goods also hail from the region. As a result of this, Hereford pubs tend to offer a lot of the local brews and local produce in their drinks and on their menus. Visitors to the area also enjoy trips to some of the local breweries and to the cider manufacturer while a planned regeneration scheme is set to start development in 2010 that will see the city expand massively.

Economy

Food suppliers SunValley and Cargill Meats are both based in Hereford along with breweries Spinning Dog and Wye Valley as well as the Bulmers Cider and Weston’s Cider factories. With their economy firmly placed in the food and drink sector in this way it is little surprise to learn that Hereford pubs are widely considered to offer some of the best food and drink in the country. If you’re planning a visit to the region then you really should try some of the local produce.

Future Regeneration

A massive regeneration scheme is set to get under way in 2010. The Edgar Street Grid will take 15 years to complete but will create 1,500 new jobs once complete and is expected to offer employment to 600 people during the construction phase. The main intention of the redevelopment plan is to reinvent Hereford as the main business and retail centre in the region and will include a pedestrian friendly boulevard as well as a number of new industrial and commercial parks and centres.

Hereford Pubs And Bars

Hereford pubs and bars offer a fine combinatio nof local food and drink along with a friendly and down to earth atmosphere. While Hereford city may not be the first place that many of us would consider for an extended excursion, lovers of real ale or locally produced cider will find particular joy when they visit the region and the planned redevelopment and regeneration will almost certainly bring new attractions and greater prospects to the region.

Hereford Breweries

Several breweries exist in and around Hereford, some of which offer tours and even tasting tours for tourists and locals alike. The biggest of these is the Bulmer’s Cider factory although several other alcoholic drinks producers also hail from this picturesque area of the country.

Education

Although Hereford has five colleges, the county of Herefordshire is one of only three counties that does not have its own university. However, there is a very good network of secondary schools and other educational institution in the area specialising in various different subjects.
