Newquay
Nightlife
Newquay is
undoubtedly best known for being one of the hottest surf spots in the UK but it
attracts tourists from around the world for a number of reasons. Ten distinct
beaches exist offering beautiful scenery and lazy days on the sand, while
Newquay nightlife has often been compared to that of Ibiza, the party capital of
the world. Major DJs from around the world have put clubs like Berties on the
map and centre stage. Tourism including stag and hen party trips see the
population of the Cornish town swell by up to five times.
Tourism
The incredible
coastline and beaches have made Newquay a major tourist attraction for many
years now. A winter population of slightly more than 20,000 inhabitants can
swell to more than 100,000 during the seasonal summer months when it becomes
especially busy. Tourists flock to the region for the combination of beautiful
beaches, booming nightlife, incredible surfing, and a number of festivals and
events held throughout the year.
Surfing
Surfing is
arguably the most prominent reason for Newquay’s popularity. Fistral Beach, in
particular, has gained a reputation as being one of, if not the single best
surfing beach in Britain and a popular and profitable surfing industry has grown
around this reputation. Surf shops, rental shops, and manufacturers have all set
up shop in and around Newquay to take advantage of the hundreds of thousands of
visitors that are attracted every single year.
Stag And Hen
Parties
Because of the
influx of surfers and tourists in the region, there are now many more Newquay
pubs and clubs than before. Further redevelopment is also being planned that
would see Newquay extend even further with greater tourism potential being
offered as a result and more venues looking to set up home in the resort. Stag
and hen parties are naturally attracted to the seaside resort because of this
incredible popularity.
Newquay
Entertainment
As well as pubs
and clubs in Newquay, party goers and visitors can enjoy some of the best music
around performed by some of the world’s most popular DJs and bands. Godskitchen
has regularly taken place in the Barracuda nightclub in Newquay while DJs like
Judge Jules have performed in a number of venues across the resort.
Run To The Sun
The Run to the
Sun is a major event in Newquay’s calendar. The last weekend in May sees up to
100,000 people descend on Newquay in Volkswagen campers, Beetles, and a plethora
of custom cars and vehicles. The party atmosphere is turned up even further
during the bank holiday and visitors tend to party through the night and sleep
through the day.
