York Nightlife
 
Having been the governing seat of the entire Roman Empire for two years, York certainly has the history and the heritage. The walls and remaining Roman buildings and roads also mean that it has the incredible beauty and places of interest to visit. The atmosphere is generally loud, vibrant, and very young and most pubs and bars in the area serve until 3am or later catering almost solely to the younger patrons.
 
Coney Street
 
Coney Street offers something of a mix between the young and loud Micklegate atmosphere and the upmarket and relaxed Goodramgate atmosphere. The more upmarket bars are frequented by a variety of ages but the evenings are generally quieter than those enjoyed in Micklegate. Some local style pubs can be found that serve proper beer as well as high quality food and a handful of modern bars also overlook the river with excellent night time views.
 
Goodramgate
 
Goodramgate is at the other end of the nightlife spectrum to Micklegate. Much more upmarket and expensive, Goodramgate also has a number of traditional pubs where you can by real ale and enjoy a quiet drink with a handful of friends. Some more exclusive bars can also be found in Goodramgate so you can get dressed up and head out to impress if that’s what you’re looking for.
